Reflecting on 2021, the year we put our hearts in NAHLA
As the year draws to a close, I have been reflecting on the journey of NAHLA. I struggled for a while as to what I would write in this blog post: what would tell the truth of what it’s been like starting and running it. Or would I just gloss over it and write something light and fun – a simple ‘thank you for purchasing’?
But because many of you have, thankfully, resonated so strongly with the brand story, I suppose I can be somewhat honest about how difficult this journey has been.
One often assumes making pyjamas is a walk in the park. Well, at least that’s what I thought before I started. Soon, I realised that it isn’t that easy and that dreams – or to be more precise, businesses – are expensive. Through this journey, I have made so many expensive mistakes in the pursuit of making the perfect pyjama. I have fallen short on many occasions and not delivered what I envisioned NAHLA would be.
When I say that NAHLA is a love language, I mean it’s been important to me that each touch point feels like love, that each interaction feels like love. I must admit, I haven’t always felt like I was getting it right. This has often caused me anxiety and has made me question whether I was on the right track; whether what I was doing mattered in the greater scheme of things. Does what I do really matter?
I have come to realise that the journey is long. I am grateful that so many of you have met me with love and kindness when we seemed to fall short. I am most grateful that you have given us a chance to grow each day and to learn.
NAHLA will turn two in 2022. It’s been an incredible journey, filled with lots of lessons, both personal and business. I have met some really incredible ladies (YOU) and I am so grateful that you have chosen to walk this journey with us. I am so grateful that you have joined this sisterhood.
I want to apologise and humbly ask you to be patient with us as we continue to learn, and as we strive to bring you a love language in sleepwear form.
Thank you so much for your generosity and for opening your hearts to NAHLA.
I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
